Advice re legal letter

Options
I have received a letter from Lowell Portfolio ltd, stating that they have bought a debt from another company JDWilliams.

The only problem is I have never heard of the other company, nor have I ever had any unpaid accounts. I assume that this is a case of mistaken identity or fraud.

Does anyone have any advice on what should I do next?

JDWilliams is an online catalogue store, like Littlewoods, Very.co.uk etc.

Check your 3 credit reports (Experian, Equifax, CallCredit/Noddle) and look if an account appears on there for JDWilliams. If it doesn't, you should contact Lowell and ask them to prove the debt. If it does appear, you need to contact JDWilliams and tell them that you never signed up to them.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
