Problem seems to be having applied for a mortgage with Santander in the first place if they take so long to process applications.
My application with Principality was processed and accepted within 24 hours - just waiting for valuation to be completed. my broker is excellent, always in touch and keeping me updated. has informed me that as long as valuation is fine, mortgage offer will follow within 24 hours of that.

I would like to know if brokers really know how long things will take. We have been waiting for the offer from Santander approaching two weeks since valuation. All we get is 1-2 more days, then the same the next day. I wonder if the broker has been told that by Santander and they are useless or if he is just making it up to keep us quiet and hoping.

We had the same experience with Mortgage Bureau brokers - chased every 4-5 days but never any news. When I told the brokers I had looked at Santander for Intermediaries and noted the underwriting dates, he came clean. Turns out Santander had been waiting for my passport for weeks.

Needless to say, we'll never use an estate agent broker again.

Never hurts to do your homework. Yeah, you shouldn't have to, but sometimes it helps.
