Brand new cooker - clock on it doesn't keep time - repair or replace
easy

Just bought a brand new electrolux cooker from ao.com
having had it a few days, we realised that the clock on it is utterly inaccurate - it loses about 1hr 20 mins in every 24 hrs!
Now obviously this is going to affect the auto timer, especially if I want it switch on automatically before I get home from work - a feature I use quite often, esp in the winter for casseroles & so forth.
AO have contacted electrolux, who want to send out an engineer (and I'm going to have to take time off work for that).
But am I entitled to a replacement ?

I'm guessing you bought online and it was delivered? In which case it is a simple yes. If not then there is other legislation which would also apply in you getting a full refund along with postage costs.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Yes I bought online. The cooker was delivered last Thursday, installed on Friday, I raised the problem with AO on TuesdayI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Your 7 days are nearly up under the DSR. You'll need to reject today.
The DSRs don't apply. OP has 14 days to cancel under CCRs.
However they'd be better telling AO that they want to reject the cooker as per their rights under the Sale of Good Act. In this case AO are responsible for return shipping.0 -
It would be covered under SoGA but AO are allowed to confirm the fault before agreeing so will probably still insist on an engineer visiting.0

They could reject under either surely? SOGA or DSR?Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
I think what TR means is that the DSRs have now been superseded by The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

I have replied to AO's most recent email with the followingI'm not terribly happy with having a repair done on a brand new £500 cooker to be honest. I would prefer a replacement.
I believe I can reject this cooker under sale of goods act and distance selling regulations, but would prefer to make an agreement with you for a replacement
If I haven't heard from them by about 3 p.m. - they have been replying within 2 to 3 hours to my earlier emails - I'll ring them and tell them I'm rejecting the cooker, then re-order another.
The annoyance is having to pay the electrician to come back to disconnect and reconnect the replacement. I don't suppose I'm entitled to that as compensation ??I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Given that the fault takes time to become apparent, and that an engineer might not be in the mood to hang around for long, it might be worth taking some photos. Put a good clock next to the cooker clock, and take a couple of photos of them a few hours apart.0

that's an interesting idea. Doesn't actually prove anything of course, cos both clocks can be manually set so one could fake the whole business - not that I'd need to.
Ha it's just occurred to me, my lads smart camera can do time lapse photography. We could set that up in front of the cooker and another clock overnight .....
No, I shouldn't be facetious I know, but this has come at the end of a number of expensive domestic crises over the last few weeks, and I'm starting to go gaga.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.
