Credit card without being on electoral roll?

in Credit cards
I already have a credit card. However, I think I got during a period of time when I was on the electoral roll. The landlord put my name down as I'm a refusenik when it comes to these sort of things.
I want to apply for a second credit card, with a different bank that I have a current account with a overdraft that was recently extended/reapplied for. They obviously thought I was safe enough to extend a 2k overdraft.
I am not currently on the electoral roll but the bank where I want to apply for the credit card knows where I am living. My account statement from the same bank is actually my proof of address.
Is it necessary for me to be registered on the electoral roll at my current address to get a new credit card, despite having one already? Thanks

You must register. CC companies generally like to know where you live and the electoral register is the best method for verifying addresses, as it's an offence to register false details. They also like to know that applicants don't habitually ignore the law/are actually resident in the UK.
Having statements sent to an address is not the same thing as living there.
That said, you can get a CC but are likely to get a lower limit and poorer rate than would otherwise be available to you, and you may have to go to a poor-credit specialist card.
This is from gov.uk/electoral-register/overviewWhat happens if you don’t register If you meet the conditions for registering to vote (eg you’re 16 or over and you’re British or a national of an EU or Commonwealth country) and you’re asked to register, you have to do so. If you don’t, your local Electoral Registration Office could fine you £80. They won’t fine you if you have a valid reason for not registering – eg a long stay in hospital, or you have severe learning difficulties.

You legally have to register on the electoral roll, you can get in trouble if you're not.
Is there any reason you don't want to be on it?Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Well I've registered now, for the purpose of increasing likelihood of more credit. My local electoral office says it'll be put on by 1st of August, but when it gets updated by agencies they can't say.
I never wanted to be on the electoral roll because I do not wish to be part of the political process, participate in civic duty or have anything to do with "the man".1 -

Just because you're on the electoral roll doesn't mean you have to do anything... You aren't forced to vote.
The CRA's should update it in due time. Get your credit reports in mid-august and see if it's listed.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Must be hard work disposing of your own rubbish, not using any roads, treating your own illnesses and injuries, never traveling abroad, ...I never wanted to be on the electoral roll because I do not wish to be part of the political process, participate in civic duty or have anything to do with "the man".loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

Well done.
Expect your poll tax demand in the post shortly
Maybe you could use that new credit card to pay it?

But getting involved in a contract with a global financial institution isn't anything to do with 'the man'?
