    I've been Money Tipped!
By the way, another experiment I've tried is stuffing balls added to a tray of roasting vegetables... potatoes, peppers, courgettes, red onions. Just a little, pre-cooked and diced chicken meat scattered over the tray for the last 20mins of roasting to brown.

    Everyone liked it!

I've always made it up first but if there's an adequate water content to absorb I guess it could be used as a neat powder. Wouldn't like to try it personally for fear of wrecking a meal...

... but by all means let me know..!

When i make sausage plait, i just mix it in dry to the sausagemeat with onion and a few mixed herbs hth

I made a sort of no-meat meatloaf by squishing together drained baked beans, onions and other random ingredients with a pack of stuffing mix and baking in a loaf tin. Sorry, no recipie - just made it up as I went along. It was delicious :).

I also buy up the fancy ones on sale after Christmas and use (with different meats) to make burgers.

Good thread :T - keep the ideas coming folks.

Sprinkled into yorkshire pudding batter makes a nice savoury pudding. Posh stuffing sandwich - bread of choice, spread stuffing balls (include crispy bits) on one side, add shredded lettuce to other side with a dollop of low cal mayo or cranberry sauce, yum veggie sandwich. For a meaty version add bits of chicken from Sunday roast or rasher of bacon cooked crispy.
loving the ideas on the thread

  • When money was tight and the kidlets were small I used to make up some mashed potato and add a packet of stuffing mix to it (dry not wet) then I would flatten them into rounds dip in flour, egg and breadcrumbs and fried them very tasty with a salad.

I also use the dry mix in my meatloaf............lovely stuff :)

Stuff mushrooms, onions, courgettes or tomatoes with it

I have also added it to couscous with roasted veg

sausage toad with suffing balls is another favourite in this house

Stuffed marrow with sausagemeat and stuffing

Use stuffing instead of breadcrumbs to coat drumsticks or thighs for a tasty buffet snack

Thanks for these suggestions. I think we've discovered another mse icon, like rubber chicken!
I'm going to make a list and attach it to the storage container so that I'll remember to try them :)

I tend to make my own stuffing with old bread and sage from the allotment and a few spices from the cupboard, is it different from the packet stuff? I have never tried it.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • I LOVE stuffing, but it repeats on me terribly, does it do that with anyone else? :o

Another daft question...do you have to cook it or can you eat it without cooking? I only ever have it roasted, but then often use it cold after cooking if there's some spare after a roast.
