Hi
With what has been in the press in the last few days about letters from 'solicitors' demanding payments (Wonger and now Student loan co.)
I am just wondering about SMC Solicitors. Are TSB doing the same thing?
I had a letter from SMC shortly after I started my DMP a couple of years ago.

SCM are TSB's in house debt collection goons.
EDIT: Having read Fermi's link I actually have a stack of SCM letters for various accounts I assist with.0 -
I got letters from SCM as well, they are filed away, don't know if I can face looking at them though

I was with Lloyds TSB (as was) for 25 years and they made £1000's out of me over that time, I was a perfect customer, when I got into difficulty they were horrible to me to be honest.ISA £1675

Most DCA `s have "in house" solicitors, more often than not in the same office, they try to make it look like the action against you has been escalated, when in reality it just gets passed around there own systems.
Personally I've never had any bumf from any fake solicitors, as far as I know.
but I'm not prejudiced at all, they all got filed together, very safely, in the recycle bin

Paul Lewis of BBC Moneybox is also looking for copies of letters, and to pass on to the FCA.

Hello, my wife received letters from SCM when we started a DMP in 2010. She was very stressed as they said that they were from a firm of solicitors and were threatening legal action to recover the credit card debt. At the time I just filed them away, but now I am wondering if I can claim compensation from Lloyds for all of the stress this caused her? The annoying thing was that she had to cut her hours down and earn less due to the stress of staying awake at night worrying about the impending court action!0
