I recently opened a bank account for myself and my husband - I was Applicant 1. But until I rang them and gave them what for, they were addressing all correspondence to my husband.
That is an error. It should be Mr & Mrs XX XXXX
It should not have been addressed solely to him unless there were two copies going out. One to him and one to you (yours being addressed solely to you). It's sexist, it's irritating, there are issues of confidentiality, and it's just plain out-dated.
Errors are not sexist. Either sex is subject to typing errors.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

if you are trailing spouse then presumably he is leading spouse. Your own username is sexist.0 -

I think, despite all efforts to the contrary, some people have their own personal 'default' whereby they ascribe their own traditional roles to married couples. In our case someone has decided that 'the man' should handle the money. In your case someone has decided that 'the woman' should deal with the cooker.

I used to pay council tax at a shared apartment, and we got a 25% discount because my partner was unemployed (hence I paid it). However, the bills were ALWAYS addressed to him, much to my annoyance!0
