For the sake of a couple of phone calls or e-mails, what possible reason is there not to even try?
Yes he should try, but first with the bank and report it as fraud. It might be possible to get his money back. But I doubt he would though, since he actually has the phone, even though it doesn't work here, it will not be blocked in all countries.0 -

Because who is going to take the stolen phone back? it will go back to the person who reported it stolen. Only if it hasn't already been replaced by the insurance company if it has, then unfortunately the phone is pretty useless here in the UK. And ebay will be unlikely to refund because ebay will not ask for the phone back, and to them it could mean his already sold it in another country where it does work. So, ebay will be losing out and potentially both the victim and the criminal could be quids in.0 -
Ok the seller has replied
Hi,
It certainly hasn't been reported as stolen, as it was bought in good faith. I suggest the same as eBay to be honest, as it certainly isn't the case. Alternatively, I would contact samsung via their website to see what suggestions they offer. It certainly has not been reported stolen by me.
I buy a 'New' phone from Ebay, and they are pretty much useless when it comes to helping me out

You can use: http://www.checkmend.com/uk/ and check the imei, I have used this website and made a insurance claim when I lost my phone, and my claim was autharized.
By the way I got the certificate before I made the claim after I had reported the phone lost.
