In my opinion, anything is possible if you put your mind to it and you sound determined. I'm excited for you; education is an amazing experience whatever your age, circumstances, background, future career plans, whatever. You have a long term ambition. Great! Now you need to break it into small manageable pieces.

If your degree as it stands is adequate for application to the PGDE course (without the top up part to get it classified that would cost you money) then go for it. Once you have your post grad qualification, nobody cares what your undergrad class of degree was. Your post grad outshines it.

I would also say get all the relevant work experience you can. Find out what you like doing the most, what you're good at, what makes you buzz with excitement and enthusiasm and energy. It might be exactly what you thought or it might be something completely different. But it's all self- discovery and so worth it!

Pursuing your interests, challenging yourself and achieving are all great for your mental health. What you're doing is important and what an amazing example to set your children. Well done you.

I'll be wishing you luck as you explore funding opportunities. You know what to do. Contact SAAS, ask lots of questions, demand benefits, find out what your student card can give you discounts on, follow every lead you can find. PGDEs are one of the last funded degrees left. I had to sell my flat to get my post grad and it was well worth it. I'm now on a fully- funded doctorate course and have had the kind of career I could only dream about before.
