i understand what you are saying. I just see people my age with new mercedes benz' or BMW and they seem to be doing well for themselves. meanwhile, i am living with my dad and trying to find a job so i can start saving up a good amount so i can move out and invest some of it too.

i look at footballers or actors and think to myself "i could have been doing that if continued it or i would have got into it when i was younger" etc. i hate having regrets and looking back thinking "what a wasted opportunity" and now i'm living a mediocre life.

i'm not terribly interested in the material possessions, but it would be nice to have enough money not to worry. I guess everyone thinks like that. I mean everyone on this forum is here for pretty much the same reasons; which is to earn more money, save more and live comfortable, financially.

Most of the time, those cars are finance and that finance will come back to haunt them. I have friends driving brandnew cars but I know that they're flashing the cash while they can and not thinking about the future properly.

As long as you get yourself a job you're happy in, and you're able to save some money, then you'll be doing well.

Peope who seem to be forever happy usually aren't in my experience, they mostly put on a smile because they have to - not because they want to.
Whats better, being happy and enjoying life or overworking yourself just to own nice things.

The harder you work for something, the more you appreciate it. If you could afford a nice car easily, then you'd always want to next model up whereas if you've worked hard and saved hard just to buy a normal run around, thn you appreciate it.

Stop focusing on what others are doing and pay attention to whats good for you, finding a job.

I've been searching for quite a while now to think of some sort of course that I could take to get me out of factory work etc, but I just can't seem to find anything.

You've a couple of obvious choices to being happier, then.

The first is to accept that you will never do anything more, and stop worrying about it.

The second, f you believe that you can do something that you prefer, is to go and do it. The route there starts today, and it does not start here, on this forum, feeling sorry for yourself.

So, which is it to be?

I'm not certain that I can do much more, as I feel limited in my general ability.
I'm not really good at at anything. Easily confused.
I've taken lots of 'career tests' on the internet, but they've been of no use and just give me unrealistic careers etc.

Hi Jimmy, I'm sure there is something you are good at. Keep searching.

By the way you remind me very much of Morganedge who posts here.
