Well, we went to the magistrates court today.

As we were able to prove that the funds left our account on time, with the correct reference, and to the correct bank account, the magistrate ruled in our favour.

    Costs and fines were waived.

We should be hearing from the council in a few days to reset the "status quo" of our account.

    Overall, a good result!

thanks everyone for the advice :)

That's excellent news. Thanks for letting us know the outcome; people don't always do this, and it is good to know.

    I bet you're glad it's over, eh?! :) Have a good weekend.

    Costs and fines were waived?

You missed showing your displeasure to the court - you told the council you paid, and yet they still took you to court. This is supposed to be a last resort, so I would have been seeking YOUR costs (as defendant). Nothing reaching three figures, but still enough to show the Council your displeasure and hit them in their pocket. You ask the judge when the case is rejected.

I got £125 from mine (by cheque) but you need to declare your requirement before the case concludes.

What a bizarre thread. You have proved you have made payments and the council could not find it.

    Well done OP :)

Bizarre, but not too surprising given councils general lack of competence .
Still rolling rolling rolling...... :) <
