Hi all,
just signed up to a 5 year deal with northern rock, and no sooner has everything compleated then out of the blue come a once in a lifetime oppotunity for me, a chance to work for triumph motorcycles in thailand! but what do i do with my house?
all options considered!
i'm leaning towards renting out but don't i need a buy to let mortgage?
your help gratefully recieved as always

Ask for consent to lease. If they refuse you could either change mortgages or let without consent.
Have you got someone to manage the property for you?
Have you thought of approaching the council to see if they will let it from you for the full 5 years? If you can let the place without having to subsidise the mortgage it's probably the best idea.
If you can't then it's a bit trickier. You need to consider what would happen if something went wrong.0
