Do you find it strange...

when someone wins a competition, especially on facebook, but doesn't comment?

The reason I say this is because someone has just won a trip to a film set in L.A. and all they did was like the post! I would at the very least say thanks nevermind 'OMG'ing or 'Whoop'ing.

Just seems odd to me.

BTW the winner is a genuine person, I'm not saying that it's a fake profile at all.

Lots of people don't publicly announce their thanks for a win but do so privately.
I've received many nice PM's from people on this board informing me of wins as I'm sure others have too.

I totally understand if someone doesn't want to post a comment on a public forum as it's an invitation to abuse and accusations of cheating via PM

They were probably e-mailed or telephoned about their win first and probably did the "'OMG'ing or 'Whoop'ing" there. Thats what i usually do anyway, no need to do it twice lol.

I have been informed today that I am the winner of a facebook competition and it's going to be announced tomorrow. Not sure whether to comment or not! I've done my wooping and OMG'ing. :)

No I don't go in for that sort of unnatural display, it's mostly done through direct message anyway.

Just for info, the person wasn't phoned, messaged or tagged, the company concerned posted a comment beneath the winner's comment saying they had 24 hours to get in touch. It was the second time they had done this as the first person didn't respond.

Thanks for your replies though, always interesting to read other people's opinions.

Ah well that's another issue entirely, not notifying the winner.

I always thank on the page, the companies run these promotions for publicity after all.
If we want them to continue running comps then it isn't too much for them to expect a thanks.

No; I think many people prefer to do their 'OMG' and 'Whoppee' in private
