Can I get disability living allowance
Comments

i know the ESA medical makes a big thing about being able or not able to do things with 'either' arm.
i dont know if that applies to PIP as well.
i personally think you would struggle to get disability benefit for a condition that affects 1 arm

It's not just affecting one arm it's affecting my whole life as I am right handed it's not only the fact I can't use it on my day to day things can't even button my pants or shirts but also the excruciating pain I get with it x0

Hi,looking though your post it seems to me that your are answering your own question,i.e you have the passion and fight i think and you will need this to fill in your form and maybe if you get turned down take on the appeal.
You seem to know the problems you face hour by hour, day by day etc, just get these down on the form and then take from there ?
Hope my post has helped you in some way.0 -
I think you're on a hiding to nothing with this alas. I understand the loss of use of the 'dominant' hand is no fun but that won't be enough reason to claim DLA or PiP. Instead of wearing shirts with buttons, use t-shirts / pullovers without buttons, ditto the trousers, I mostly wear jogging bottoms now which don't have any buttons or zips. You have a PC and can type (as evidenced here) so you could print out or email letters and correspondence. You could even learn to sign a signature with your left hand. I know because firstly I lost my right leg and had to learn to drive using my left leg on the pedals (no fun but I managed it). I then managed to fracture both bones in my right wrist and still managed to survive, including signing for parcels and stuff. I'm afraid I don't see you getting far with this, sorry. It's not just affecting one arm it's affecting my whole life as I am right handed it's not only the fact I can't use it on my day to day things can't even button my pants or shirts but also the excruciating pain I get with it x

Actually, do you know what..... judgemental I probably am and not because of my own situation which I am determined won't stop me. When I was 15 years old (and now at 47 years old, a long time back) I went to school with a lad that lived with his parents who ran a butchers shop. Through an accident with the meat grinder (and I'm not making this up), he lost his right arm up to the elbow and often came into school with what was then a very obvious looking prosthetic.
Losing a limb is certainly no fun and not something I would want anyone to have to go through but losing the use of your right arm (be that the 'dominant' arm or not) is not going to get you benefits. Sorry. The boy in question was equally as good as if not better than most at most tasks, especially sporting ones.0
