Electric oven switch not working

Hi
I noticed this evening that there is no power to our oven. I used the grill at lunch.
The Oven Switch on the wall above the worktop was still on, but the light had gone out.
I went to the circuit breaker box but the circuit hadn't tripped. so resetting doesn't restore power (light) to the switch.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be? I have read about elements blowing, but I would expect the wall switch to still be working once the circuit is un-tripped if this was the case - or am I mistaken? Is there any fuse inside the oven switch I ought to check? The switch is a LAP 1 Gang 45a Dp cooker switch - installed about 18 months ago, as was the oven.
Thanks for any advice you have
Tom

You need to test for power at the switch-if you don't know how to do this, you need a qualified sparky. It could be a loose connection at the switch/socket, or a failed MCB.
The fact that the switch light is off indicates no power in the circuit. A continuity test will establish if the cooker is at fault. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
As above, but I think if you had to ask maybe you need a hand with this one.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
If the grill works, and the hob? Then sounds like a faulty oven.
If it was the switch the whole cooker would be dead ; )0 -
Might be just the LED in the light that has failed ??0
