Returning faulty goods

Hi there,
Just looking for a bit of clarification on this so i know what i am on about when trying to get a replacement item!

I have a baby car seat that has developed a fault after being used for only 4 months, i believe that it is a design/manufacturing fault. any information that i have been able to find suggests that it needs to be returned to the retailer for replacement. As it is what i believe to be a manufacturing fault then surely the replacement that i will receive is likely to also have the same fault, should this not be down to the manufacturer to take responsibility for the fault of its own product?

Thanks in advance for any information

Your consumer rights are with whoever sold you the seat who should offer you a repair / replacement / refund. If you have any concerns with the design / manufacture of the seat you could contact the manufacturer who may offer a solution but they do not have to deal with you. The major manufacturers do offer a customer services help line though and are usually very willing to listen to genuine concerns. The major retailers will have staff who have been trained by the manufacturers and may have contacts to short cut a concern. Are you willing to name the brand ?

Nope the retailer but no harm in you contacting the manuacturer too!!

The retailer will need to repair/replace or reund and they can choose what to do, this is assuming they can't show otherwise that you caused the problem.

should a replacement have the same ault (you sure you haven't just bought a crap seat?) then you go back to the seller again and get a new one. Should that develop the same issue then you'll probably get some money back.
