DIY Blow Torch Recommendation

Can anybody recommend a reasonable blow torch for £30 or less for occasional DIY plumbing (solder-ring joints). I've just tried a Campingaz TH3000 from Homebase and had to return it. The flame control was very sensitive and, with care, I could get a good precise flame when holding it upright. As soon as I moved into a near horizontal position it turned into what can best described as a mini-flame thrower and I could not get any resonable control of the flame (apart from on or off). I followed the instructions and let it warm up etc but it was useless for using at a angle.

So, any recommendations for one that doesn''t flare of blow out would be most appreciated.

It needs a proper regulator to prevent the flame flaring and most cheap blowtorches don't have them.

That is why the pros pay the money they do for the nice torches with fine flame jets that don't torch everywhere in confined spaces.

Have a look on ebay for a torch with a regulator. The problem is finding one which can use the low priced camping gas style cartridges and a regulator because connecting them together might be difficult. I have no idea whether it can be done.

I've never had an issue with any cheap torches, simply use them full on:rotfl::rotfl:.

My advice would be go for 1 that takes the dumpy EPI gas or similar refills, much more stable than long tall ones which are so easy to knock over.

I do have a proper calor bottle with reg and torch, but it rarely gets used, cheap and cheerful works mostly for me.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
