THe council are being difficult

I applied for ctax and HB for the period I was off sick I took in a pay slip stating I am recieving only SSP but the council are demanding a sick note.

I've explained to them that I wouldn't of got SSP from work without a sick note and I am required to hand it in to work otherwise I would have been a unauthorized absence.

I don't see why they need sick notes asHB is based on income. I'm not applying for DLA

Why not just ask work for a photocopy and give it to the council?

You're right, HB is based on income not your reason for being on a low income. I would provide a photocopy to placate them, and if they ask for more remind them the fit note is for SSP/ ESA purposes, not for them.

    Agree totally....
  • Are you paid weekly or monthly?

Perhaps they want to establish the date you were off sick?
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

GP's don't give duplicate fit notes.

Perhaps ring and ask them what it is they need from it? There may be other ways to get the details they want.

Get your employer to email the council with an attachment showing the original sick note. Councils often accept this type of proof as it's not actually a copy.
    It's someone else's fault.
