Bought a tablet form Game under a year ago and it won't boot - where do I stand

Hello.

I bought a Nexus 7 2013 Wifi model from Game.co.uk on 10 August 2013.

Recently the touchscreen has been unresponsive (googling suggests known software issue, I know of one other person personally who had this issue) and now the device doesn't boot beyond the google screen at all.

Where do I stand with them in terms of a replacement or refund?

As its over 6 months old, the onus is on you to prove its inherently faulty. You will need to get an independent report advising this and then take it to GAME where they will resolve the issue and refund the cost of the report.

Hm ok. How do I go about getting the independent report?

Go to a place that repairs phones/tablets and ask them for a report detailing the nature of the fault and whether its an inherent fault.

Far easier just to contact Google - they'll repair or replace with a reconditioned unit.

I believe they only do that if you bought it directly from google play.

It is covered by a manufacturers warranty - so strictly speaking Asus. The details are on their website.

You can book repair online - uk.asus.com/rma. It'll be much easier.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler

Thanks, I've heard pretty awful things about ASUS and RMAs but it's looking like the only game in town.
