Turning down work

Job offer is 28 hours work.
4 hours training.
12 hours Saturday and Sunday.
Company want to pick me up at 7am Friday and take me to Northampton on Friday. Saturday and Sunday I'll be covering the. Tour de France route from Bradford to Cambridge.
I've been asked to bring my own tent and sleeping equipment, so I guess I'll be camping too...
I live in East London.
Is this a fair job offer? Can I turn it down? I really don't fancy marshalling pedestrians across a race track over a 12 hour shift after spending the night in a tent!

How much are they paying? If it's £500 then yes, if it's £176.68 then probably still yes if it's money that you wouldn't otherwise have had and you have nothing better to do with your time.

Blimey it's 28hrs out of your life..and a chance to see the cycling and make some money. What exciting adventure would you have planned if you decide not to take it?

I can think of many jobs where I assume the person doing them really doesn't fancy it - that is why they are paid.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

It's at least 60 hours away from home, only 28 paid.
The cycling will be passing my about 500m from my house on Monday. I'll be staying indoors. I have no interest in it!

In all jobs you need to weigh up your time vs payment. I agree, not something i'd chose to do if I wasnt being paid, however, throw £60-£100 (per day) after expenses in there and of course i'd do it. Just depends if you would like the money, if you would need to pay for childcare etc. As others have said, work isnt always a barrel of fun but this experience sounds like it could be a good atmosphere and networking oppertunities.

So you would take a job 4 hours away from home, and camp for two nights, whilst only being paid for half of your time away?

I volunteered to marshal a half marathon in my hometown, I really enjoyed it. I like running and have entered a few races to it was very interesting for me to see the other side of it.
End of the day only you know how much you need the money, but I would take it :)

If it was the London Stage, I'd take it too.
