Turning down work

It sounds like you've already made up your mind about the offer.
Camping in a tent doesn't have to be so bad. Plenty you can do to make sure you're comfortable and get a good nights sleep.
As others have said, you need to consider whether the payment is worth the time. If you'd take the job if it were at the London Stage then I'm guessing you wouldn't totally hate doing the job so it's worth considering.0 -
Sounds like you just dont want to travel, no-one is saying that would be everyones choice, if its not for you just tell them so. Ive travelled 4hrs on a regular basis to only be paid for the 10hrs worked each day (2days). Aslong as my travel was paid, the day they told me it wouldnt be & meal expenses were not to be paid - i stopped going!0

What exactly do you want to know? We can't tell you if it's fair (in our opinion) as you haven't said what they are offering.
So only you know if it's worth your time. Plus we don't know if this is on top of a normal job, or if you are unemployed.
Based on the little information given, and assuming you are unemployed, I'd go for it, treat it as adventure and seeing somewhere new, your time is your own outside work and you never know what it could lead to.0 -
It's at least 60 hours away from home, only 28 paid.
The cycling will be passing my about 500m from my house on Monday. I'll be staying indoors. I have no interest in it!
Even if you're not interested in the cycling you'll be seeing new places and meeting people who are out enjoying themselves in a good atmosphere. Many people would pay for this experience but you'll be earning money from it.0 -
You appear to be getting a lot of responses from the Daily Mail brigade on this one. Just turn it down. It's ridiculous what they expect you to do for just 28 hours. And they expect you to Bring your own tent? Life's too short, just don't bother and turn it down. I can't see the powers that be at the JCP imposing any sanctions at all.0

Yes, life is too short to be sat at home unemployed.
(For reference, I do not read the Daily Mail, I just choose to see the positives.)0 -
So you would take a job 4 hours away from home, and camp for two nights, whilst only being paid for half of your time away?
If my employer asked, or I needed a job and couldn't find something I liked better, yes, unless I had to pay for too expensive travel. I have laboured for full days while camping as a volunteer and when my employer sends me away it is standard to only be paid for working time, not resting. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
