House move question

I'm currently receiving DLA (HRM and HRC) and ESA support grp. I am moving house well outside my current catchment area (300 miles +) but nothing lee is changing. In fact the only reason I'm having to move is because I live with my folks, who are moving, and I can't live alone. So, who do I need to inform and will this affect my payments?
TIA

It should not affect your payments - just ring them with new details or you could send a proper letter by snail mail the old fashioned way.
  • After moving recently I can tell you that you need to phone up both ESA and DLA separately (they're both DWP so I assumed that I only needed to phone one, apparently I was wrong!)

They can only change your details after you move, so you will need to do this as soon after moving as is possible/practical.

The move won't affect DLA, but it may affect ESA(Income Related) if you move in with someone that you didn't live with previously.

ie if your change in circumstances affects your eligibility for Income Related benefits. That doesn't sound like this is the case with you though.

you need to phone as soon as you move.
i tried to phone the day before i moved and they wouldnt accept it.. they said i had to call either the actual day i was moving or as soon as possible after.
i phoned ESA first and they told me that they would inform DLA for me ( which they did) i think a lot deoends on how helpful the person that answers the phone is ;)
  • from experience dla should be no problem but esa can lead to some short delay in payment

... I forgot about this, but yes, my ESA was delayed for a few days on the payment after moving ...

... after the initial phone call to tell them I'd moved they suspended the claim temporarily ...

... when I phoned up to ask about the missed payment, I got a phone call back asking about my new circumstances, and they processed the payment that day (as JSA, as apparently any manual payment goes in under the JSA code) ...

... so yes, with ESA it's definitely worth following up after a move! x

... are you receiving IR ESA or just CR ESA? ... the suspension was so that they could ask income related questions about who I'd moved in with (nobody) etc ...

... or it could just have been because I moved closer to my regular payment date than you ...

... I was really annoyed with them at the time, I'd spoken to ESA/DWP both before and after the move, and none of the advisers told me that my payment could be delayed at all, so when my payment disappeared I was really worried ... I feel like one of the people I'd spoken to could have mentioned in passing that there may be a delay, but nope, it was up to me to notice the missed payment & phone up to chase it ...

i tried to update them as soon as i knew i was moving ( had to do it all in 4 days) but they wouldnt accept it until the actual day i moved

Those of you who were held up, when they got their act together did you get back the missing money?

The payment was just delayed by a couple of days, and mostly that was the time it took me to notice, and wait till the following morning to ring the DWP and find out what happened to it.

When I phoned them to tell them it was missing I got a phone call back later that day to ask the questions they needed to ask, and the payment was processed the same day.
