I have tried texting the caravan owner but she's ignoring the texts too.

She obviously has no intention of refunding my deposit and I'm fuming.

Looks like I will have to consider the court option. I know the ruling will go my way but apparently it's difficult to enforce such rulings if she still doesn't pay up.

But at the very least the thieving cow will have a CCJ to her name.

I'd want to warn others not to rent from her because she may well make a habit of stealing deposits and hoping everyone will think it's only them she does it to. All her adverts are still active.

Name and shame her on the vent board? Might make you feel better and help others too.

Thanks RAS. I hadn't thought of Advertising Standards. It's not that she's openly making charges that are not advertised - she says she will return the deposit if the van is left clean and tidy - but she's just not doing it.

Savvy Sue, where can I find more info about starting court action online and sending a Letter Before Action?

Nodiscount...would I be breaking any laws if I name and shame her on the vent board? I'm tempted, believe me. She also has an online business selling second hand baby clothes...I'd love to see people warned about her very lucrative little sideline of nicking people's deposits.

Start here and google 'letter before action' if that's not covered by working through those links.

You could do the LBA without starting the claim, but I can't help thinking that the suggestion of sending a print out of a claim would concentrate the mind even more ...

Thanks so much Savvy Sue. I will get that sorted first thing in the morning.

Don't you just HATE getting ripped off...especially by a person you were stupid enough to trust?

I had to do this for a deposit that a mobile disco hung onto, he rang me once he got the letter and was a bit funny, saying that he would have refunded me eventually. I just wanted my money back, after all its a deposit so its 'our ' money, not theirs! Good luck

    Hi Zaksmum,
You can also drop her in it by reporting to the HMRC tax evasion hotline if it's all cash in hand....

Like I said before, the threat of court action starting within 7 days of my letter was the thing which got my deposit back. I was willing to go through with it too, but thankfully just the threat was enough for me.

Sad isn't it, that you have to go to these lengths with some people just to get your own money back.

Thanks liuhutOz and scubaqueen and bylromarha.

I'll definitely grass her up to the taxman and was wondering about the police too, as she's committing theft/fraud.

If I can't get my money back from her I'll do whatever else I can to annoy her.

Might be worth contacting the tourist information in the area where the caravan park is. They may be interested in your experience, especially if they may be sending people to this place.
I know the tourist info offices in our area take these kind of things pretty seriously.

I would also be posting a stinker of a review on https://www.tripadvisor.com to make sure it got as much coverage as possible.
