Experian Credit Problem - settled debt!

Hi all could you please advise, my credit rating was fair even though I had two credit cards frozen on agreement and being paid regularly.
One I just settled with Barclaycard at an agreed amount and although it has come up settled on the balance they have put a 6 month arrears marker on it - which doesnt make sense when it was perfect every month before.
I have called them and they are referring it to their section but I dont hold out much hope. They tell me its satisfied on their system but thats not the case on experian.
However my credit is now poor and thats the only change so i would have been better off not settling the debt!
Any advice welcome - stressed and unhappy!
