NISA or Santander 123?

    Just to add to the discussion, all of our banking is done with Santander and the ISA rates this year were pants so we've put all our savings into our 123 account HOWEVER, remember that ISA rates could go up so if you want to carry your cash over to next year and keep it tax free then you should follow martin lewis' advice to chuck it all in an ISA at the end of the tax year so you can then take advantage of next year's allowance too.

    This is obviously only relevant if you are intending to save the maximum amount tax free every year

    To get the best of both worlds you could always drip feed this regular saver NISA from Newcastle Building Society.

    You'll only be getting the equivalent of the 2.4% that you're already earning with Santander but at least the cash will be in a tax free pot for when rates do improve.
