Are showers really that bad? Yikes.

I have hyperhidrosis and shower in the morning, then when I get home from work....

We cook with gas and never use the tumble dryer (its one of those 2 in 1 units) All our white goods are brand new, all still within a year old. I think i'll start switching everything off at the wall, can only make it a tad cheaper! Paying £41 p/m for dual fuel is clearly not enough!

What about stuff like X-boxes, Sky boxes, video recorders/players etc. Watching a plasma TV for three hours can use 1kwh.
Your consumption isn't outrageous, we get through about 8-9kw a day but that includes heating water, TV, cooking, electric kettle etc It goes up a bit when we are washing or using the dishwasher.

Try turning stuff off at the wall anything that has a standby or push button start will consume some power when its plugged in so if it's switched off at the wall it will save a bit.

Lighting can chew it up a bit as well especially of you've got halogen downlighters - we had 10 x 50 watt lamps in the kitchen = 500watts. They've been changed to 10 x 4 watt LEDs which saves 6-7p an hour when they are on.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
