Coming back to UK - Transfer Credit Card?

Hi All,
We're moving back to the UK from Hong Kong in a couple of months. That probably means starting again with building a credit history, as it's been 5 years at least since we were last in the UK.
Question:1
I have an HSBC Premier account. They opened the UK account for me from HK. Will that carry over any history of borrowing and payments from HK to UK? is it searchable by the main agencies?
Question 2.
I have an Amex charge card. It has the option of transferring it to the UK. This sounds like a good option as I probably would not be accepted for one immediately in the UK. Will it boost my rating at all?
The ultimate goal in all of this is to be able to apply for a mortgage in the UK at some point in the near future.
Thanks
MB

Only credit history that will be of interest is UK related. You'll be starting again.0

But definitely transfer the AMEX, and also ask HSBC if they can open you an HSBC credit card in the UK.
Essentially no one can see your history, but companies you already deal with can see your history, with them. Taking advantage of that one in the UK is much more difficult.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -
I see, thanks for the replies. It's pretty clear.
I'll transfer the card and follow the usual rules of registering on the electoral role and managing credit applications carefully.
Cheers.
