If the limit on the Santander card has been reached and they won't increase it (which is very unlikely on a new card), then you will need to apply for another card with a BT offer.

Alternatively, throw as much money as you can at the interest bearing balance.
  • do you think i could apply for another credit card myself and transfer all the money even though she has only just done a balance transfer

Most credit card providers allow you to do a transfer to a card in another person's name. But you cannot transfer between cards from the same issuer (so you couldn't get an MBNA card and do a transfer to her MBNA card). Santander may be one of the few that don't allow a transfer to someone else's account, if someone confirms that then don't go for one of those either.

When you say transfer all the money to your name - you mean just the balance left on MBNA presumably. No point you incurring a transfer fee to clear the santander card as she has only just done that transfer.

Either of you can apply. But whether you can get one depends on your credit history, income and lender criteria.

What do you mean by transfer all the money? Do you mean just the remainder that is being charged interest? There is no point in paying another fee to transfer the balance that is now sitting on a 0% promo.
  • i would transfer just the balance of the mbna, i have just done a credit check on here and it said there is an 80% chance of getting a card with capital one is this a good one

As far as I'm aware right now, the Capital One only offers you 0% on balance transfers until November (5 months). You'd be better off applying for a different card if you need a longer period to pay the balance off...
