Should there be an adequate back-up plan?
There should be a back-up plan, but it's not as simple as stopping a plane taking off - they have slots to stick to, and missing a slot at somewhere like Heathrow could mean hours until the next one.
I flew from Milan to Heathrow then to San Francisco on Saturday, June 28th. I understand BA was well aware of their baggage problems before I boarded my flight.
Not one person suggested that I take some of my essential personal items and place them in a carry-on. I checked all three of my bags.
Landed in SFO and waited at baggage claim, while BA baggage handlers started taking all luggage out of the carousel and loading them unto large carts.
When another curious passenger asked about this -- they were told that SOME of these bags were from yesterdays flight (oh, says one of the baggage handlers - I believe with a smirk- your bags will probably be coming out next).
ALL of the passengers from BA285 waited around the carousel for about another hour -- and then an announcement that our bags would not be arriving -- mad dash to counter while we filled out forms.
THIS WAS SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH
I received my first of three bags on Wednesday, July 2nd at 9:30 pm (PST)
I received my second of three bags on Thursday, July 3rd at 5:45 pm (PST)
Today is Friday, July 4th (Happy 4th everyone) at 9:55 am (PST) and I am still waiting for my third and final bag.
-- WHERE IS THE LOVE BRITISH AIRWAYS?
Thanks for letting me vent -- my family can't stand to hear me rant anymore.
Plans to travel to Lake Tahoe for family 4th of July weekend - SQUASHED.
It could be worse, I suppose -- I AM ALIVE........
I flew out of T5 to Munich on 28th June, and one of my cases didn't turn up.
I reported this at the desk, and was told it was already on the next flight, and was delivered to the river boat I was staying on in Nuremberg by 8 o'clock that evening.
Under the circumstances, that was quite impressive.
There was another person on the ship whose bag didn't turn up either - this was delivered to the ship on the Tuesday morning, when we were docked at Passau, two stops down the Danube. So the bag caught up with a moving object - again, not bad.
It wasn't brilliant to have bags delayed, but they did resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough
My parents flew to vegas on the 27th of June on business class.
Their baggage has not arrive to the US nor to the UK. British has updated that one of the bags was sent to Vegas on the 1st of July but after speaking with BA customer services in the US every day. The luggage was never received in vegas.
We are keeping the file up to date with messages and addresses but still nothing...
It's the airline you need to ask, not us.
