3i shareholders beware

Hi
Just had a cold call from someone with a strange accent in Chicago (she said) asking about my 3i shares .She was contacting me to see if I was interested in selling shares to her client who wanted a majority shareholding in 3i .
They wanted to pay between £7 and £17 (todays price is just over £4)
I hung up when they asked for my email address.
Scam ?

Seems likely. 3i's largest shareholders all seem to be the usual corporate bodies. An individual would have to be very wealthy indeed to entertain hopes of acquiring a majority holding. Unless you hold millions of shares yourself, why would anyone bother?0

Even if it was genuine, they must think the market price is going to go higher than what they are offering you otherwise why would they bother.
