Lied to get credit

I am worrying myself sick as I have lied about my employment status and income in order to obtain credit. Is this likely to get found out. I Said I work and earn 23K pa. I Don't work and am on Disability benefits.I have had cancer, I have urge incontinence and other health problems including depression and fibromyalgia. so frightened of what will happen if I get found out. Have 3 cards totaling 14K and loan from bank of 5K most of it has been consolidation and balance transfers to get zero intrest. Have not defaulted on any until my loan payment today.

Should I put anything on form about my health? My husband and family have put a lot of pressure on me to buy things by use of emotional blackmail. I feel worthless.

Goodness, going bankrupt for a second time and telling lies to get credit? Be honest on your application but expect the OR to apply for a BRO.

    It's a Bankruptcy Restriction Order. See here - http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/pdfs/guidanceleafletspdf/bro.pdf

I'm sorry for your situation, OP. Have you spoken to anyone from Stepchange? They are very helpful. http://www.stepchange.org/

I hope you get more support from your family. x

    P.S. You're not worthless. x

The OR wouldn't necessarily find out - but if a creditor made a complaint then they would investigate then.
  • I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I can't comment on the loan question but I did just want to say that I really don't like the defeat in your words when you speak of your family & that you feel worthless. Your health situation makes you even more vulnerable to them.

You're not worthless, go & google 'emotional abuse', then google 'financial abuse' then google how to contact Womens Aid for help. You don't have to live with people like this.

    Two things may happen.

You may well get a BRO (or a BRU which is where you agree to thr BRO, it's common to be asked to accept say a 4year BRU or you will be taken to court for a 5year BRO). Big shrug. Why do you care? You need to live the rest of your life without borrowing.

In theory you could be prosecuted for fraud. This is very unlikely, especially given your medical history.

Yes I would mention your medical history on the bit of the banruptcy petition where you are asked to explain how your situation has arisen. Mention that the combination of the the illnesses and the drugs meant you made some what you now know are very poor decisions.

I hope things work out for you. We have all donstupid things by thinking it was the right decision at the time. Most of us want to please our family, but there comes a time when it needs to be all about you.

Don't beat yourself up and feel worthless about past mistakes, you are taking control of your life now and that's what matters in helping you to move forward.
