Iron Morphy Richards

Brought an iron of Morphy Richards which has 3 year guarantee now 1 year 3/4 down the line it has problem I contacted Morphy Richards said you did not register for the 3 years which has to be done in the 28 days of purchase I was never told this they say it was in the booklet provided which I read which it was.


What are my consumer rights??

    The Guarantee is provided over and above normal consumer rights, so as you did not register your product, the guarantee is only as much use as a fire lighter.


    You will of curse google something about a magic European law that says you has a 6 year guarantee. In essence, you do not, but a supplier (store you purchased it from) are under an obligation for the first 6 months that the product works satisfactorily. After this time, it is for the consumer to prove the fault was inherent.

    Just get in touch with the retailer, speak politely and rationally with them and try to get them to at least offer a repair.


    Morphy Richards goods do say on the box that they have a 3 year warranty, but you do have to register it with them, it is not automatic, as is the same for most manufacturers now. You think they are going to just bombard you with junk mail, so don't bother, but it does also suit a purpose, they would have most likely swapped it for you.
