If you pull out of the purchase you are in breach of contract. They can pursue you for their losses, but they have a duty to mitigate them (such as using the key for a different order, or sending it back if they can etc).

I have no idea what their losses would be though.

From a purely legal perspective, there is no right to cancel. The Consumer Contracts Regulations exclude the right of cancellation for "the supply of goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalised". It doesn't matter whether they have done any personalisation work or not; the fact you ordered something personalised is enough to prevent you cancelling.

Doesn't stop it being poor customer service though.

If the key is on it's way that means it has already been cut the order is partly completed..They may decide to not force you to pay the £270 you will have to read up on their T&C, but you have lost your deposit regardless.

Sorry, I didn't give them the VIN, it was the VRM.
Then that will link to the VIN on the manufacturers database and allow them to cut the key to the pattern on their records.

They have no T&C that is published on their website or accessible to their customers. I've received no confirmation emails or anything to acknowledge the order.

The key will be pre cut to the same as your original, it will then need programming off your original when you pick it up.

If it wasn't pre cut, why would they have to send away for it and get your VRM/VIN off you. They would have a load of key blanks there ready to be cut, then programmed.

Sorry, non cancellable in my eyes and most others too.
