Nope, you just need proof of the no claims bonus. Most insurance companies will accept your renewal letter from your current insurer as long as it shows the NCB but it's best to enquire with whichever new insurer you wish to use.0

Protection allows a small number of claims without impacting the number of years discount you can say you have - normally 2 claims in 3 policy years. It has nothing to do with switching insurers0
