Tesco phone insurance

Could any please help me get my head around Tesco mobile phone insurance? My wife and I have just realized that we have been paying for insurance cover for two mobile phones 3 months after the contract ended. When we called Tesco insurance, they told us that it was down to us to cancel the payments and that we would not be reimbursed. We were paying £67.00 per month for the insurance (not cheep), and now they say that there could be extra payments (which is admin related) that we might have to pay.
I would hope I could get them to pay what they have taken off of us, but they have made it seem like we were in the wrong. Any advice would be very helpful.

Goodness me, £67 a month just for insurance? For how many handsets?

Edit: now read the OP properly :) Still seems an awful lot even for 2 phones!
  • What's an OP, lol.

It's not just the insurance but the contracts for the two phones. The famous Blackberry.

Is your issue with the contract or the insurance? Have you cancelled either?
  • Tesco insurance are the people you take the phone contract out with. It was a 2 year contract which should have ended at the end of March, but they have continued to take the £67.00 out of our account. The contract should have stopped as the term was complete. Tesco have told us that it was down to us to stop the payments. I'm not sure if this is a standard practise with other contracts, but it seems like daylight robbery.

Are you sure? I thought the phone contract would be with Tesco Mobile and would continue after the 2 years was up. I wouldn't expect the phone just to go dead after 24 months.

Might be better asking on the phone part of the forum as I think your issue is with the phone contract rather than the insurance.

I've never seen any fixed-term mobile postpay contract. It's a 2 year minimum term. It continues on the same terms until you give, usually, 30 days notice.

What did you do with the phones after March?

You need to check contracts etc here.
Your phone contracts are with tesco mobile and will be a minimum term. Meaning that after this term you can then give 30 days notice to cancel.
Your insurance may well be with tesco mobile insurance and would need to be cancelled seperately as this would not end either as how are they supposed to know that you don't still need the phones covered.

Why would you even expect the insurance to end when the minimum term was reached? If you didn't make your wishes clear, then it's tough - it's your money, and not their mistake - so there is nothing to return as they provided the service and would have paid out if you had claimed.

If you want any service to stop, you tell the supplier, not simply assume.
