Wow thats alot,we have just put prices upto £5.50 for 2.5 hour session, what part of the country are you in, I'm north Lancashire and £5.50 - £7.00 is about average, We have had various grants and do alot of fundraising to keep prices down, I'm really shocked that they are changing that much.

That's a big hike (and a strange price, why £9.96?) but it's still less than we pay in West London... Ours went from £12 to £13 per session in April, but they also increased the time from 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours, so the actual cost went down. It's still a lot of money though!

Are they putting it in line with the government funding do you think? I know when I was on committee of a playgroup they preferred funded children cos they got about £8ish a session for them, whereas not funded they were charging the parent about £5-£5.50, this was Sept 05. Initially this was for 2 hours but was later changed to 2.5 without the fees going up.
  • in 1995 our youngest son attended the best preschool/playgroup in the area it was substantially dearer than other local groups boasted several staff fantastic facilities they did oodles of craft, baking etc etc and the children loved it doors opened at 9am and home time was 12pm all my friends were amazed that i sent him there as it was so costly- it was £6.50 a week!!!!!!
:p dee mum of 3 "before you buy ...think,how many hours have i worked to pay for this?,do i need it? or can i get it r&r in tesco!! hee heee:A

Our prices are going up to £6.50 for 3 hrs in September but this new amount also covers snack which used to be charged separately. I'm on the Surrey/Hampshire border.

I work in a playgroup in Fife & our prices are just over £4 a session. This doesnt include snack though, can't remember how much that is (but is much lower) :o
