WIN Investing - Warning

As these cowboys are currently advertising on local radio & in todays Times, I thought it worth posting this. Although the seminars advertised are free, they are high pressured selling environments trying to sign you up to an "investment course" that costs £3100.

see http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/investing/article.html?in_article_id=413314&in_page_id=166

or search on google for Darren Winters.

Please avoid if you or your friends are tempted.

Quite why the supposedly quaility papers accepts adverts from these charlatans is beyond me.

    Money.

  • Give someone enough money and they'll do almost anything...

  • Thanks for the advice guys. I've been hearing the Darren Winters radio ads all week and they have been driving me insane. It sounds pretty good, but dig deeper and there are all sorts to discover.

If in doubt, Google it! In less than the time it takes to listen to one of those cheesy radio adverts I discovered these:

"I lost with Win Investing but it won't pay me back"

"Real Secrets Behind The Millionaire Promises"

"Is Darren Winters a stock market millionaire ?"

"An Investigation into Darren Winters & Win Investing"

"Win Investing / Darren Winters - Is it a Scam?"

Surely there must be some kind of regulation / legislation to stop people like Darren Winters and his mob from preying on the unsuspecting public? There's so much dirt on this guy that some of it must be true. You know what they say, no smoke without fire and this is supposed to be a smoke free britain Ha Ha!
  • My husband and have been stupid enough to sign up for a series of Win investing courses that has cost us thousands! The first course start date is this weekend but we cannot get hold of anyone to find out the venue or where our course materials are. The office has been playing the same voicemail message for the past week now and no one is returning our phone calls or e-mails.

Funny thing is that they are still taking payments for future courses on their websites!

Does anyone else have the same problem??

    Very distressed

  • I have also spent about 6K on a follow up course with this company. They told me that it had been cancelled and that I could go on one in March. They haven't responded to my email and they haven't answered the phone for over a week. Today, their website has been suspended.

It seems fairly obvious they've gone bust or ceased trading. They are however still sending out their monthly newsletter which is very confusing. I have been on their original trading course which I really enjoyed. I'm going to call at their office after work tomorrow and find out what's going on. I'll let you know.

If they have gone bust, I just hope the 6K I paid by credit card can be recovered as I never received the course. It's a lot of money to lose. Maybe Martin could advise on this?

    Regards

    Rick
  • These guys used to advertise a lot in the Metro paper, especially in the Business news page.
  • Visited WIN Investing last night. It appears everything is okay and business as usual. They have been very short staffed which is why they are taking time to respond to emails. The few staff there are probably constantly on the phone which is why it immediately diverts to the answerphone when you ring.

Courses are on as usual. They are re-arranging my course and will let me know. If you have missed a course and are worried, they will just book you onto another course so you won't lose your money. They should contact you before the course but it may be late on. Hang in there.

Some people seem to love throwing money away.

As long as there are people daft enough to think they are going to make their fortune by throwing money away, these clowns will never disappear
  • I'm waiting for someone who's been here a long time to post that they are happy, I tend to be suspicious about new members throwing glowing praises at debatable companies.
