Transfer Credit Card balances between spouses

Hello,

Does anyone know if you are still able to Balance Transfer a credit card balance between spouses? I recently had an offer through for my Tesco Credit Card (0% BT), but when I went to transfer my husbands credit card balance to it, they said it was no longer allowed due to a change in the law??? Has anyone heard about this or know if it's still possible to do this with other providers?

Yes, it can still be done.

It may be their policy not to allow balance transfers from accounts not owned by the account holder. You are taking on debt for a third party of whom they have no knowledge and to whom they haven't extended credit, so maybe they'd prefer you didn't/

I have no idea, but some places don't let you take on the debts of others that way.

The transfer should require nothing more than a card number. If you have to tick a box somewhere to say that it is your card, just tick it. If they ask you on the phone if the card is in your name, just lie and say it is.

it usually can't be done if both cards are from the same lender.
