Your expectations are extremely unrealistic. You will need to have some patience and wait until everyone is ready to exchange,0 -
I accepted an offer on my empty house on March 17th so you will be very lucky if you complete this monthDMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳
Current debt: £7823.62 7720.52 7417.940 -
Agree with all of the above - we're in our fifth month now. Best advice I can give you: get a hobby, because it can and will take months.0

Look on the brightside, could be a lot worse - I had my offer accepted on 17th December and still not even exchanged let alone completed!! I was aiming to be in by March - lol!!2009 Wins = £833
2010 Wins = £6,597
2011 Wins = £7,083
£2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
20 in 2012 = 4/200 -
Our EA rang yesterday to say the FTB at the bottom of the chain wanted to complete 1st Aug. That would be fine, except that same FTB hasn't even got a mortgage offer yet - they survey isn't until next week!!!!
Problem this time of year is that one moves into holiday season and people find it hard to move when they are away on holiday!0 -
An EA told me that these things usually take 6-8 weeks. Yeah right!
We received an offer on our property in mid-April (the property was only on the market for two or three weeks - we'd moved out so we could have it ready for viewings etc and not have to worry about being part of a chain), and although we didn't accept the first offer, we accepted a slightly higher offer from the same buyer within a couple of days. They were supposedly a cash buyer (they lied) and looking for a quick purchase.
The buyer has wanted a million and one questions answering, which is fair enough but it seems they could only process one question/answer at a time so that's caused delays. They also lost the contract at one point, and threw a little strop halfway through and made a completely ridiculous demand - the EA (supposedly on our side!) suggested we meet halfway to ensure the sale went ahead, but meanwhile prices were increasing so we said as a goodwill gesture, we'd meet a quarter of the way (and were completely justified in doing so - in fact we'd have been justified refusing entirely!). We reckon he's hoping to be the one to let the property out, hence trying to persuade us to accept stupid demands - we must give off a 'gullible' vibe. Don't think he was expecting the essay I sent in response, but fortunately the buyer accepted. Lucky really - suggestions two and three were going to be the EA sorts it from his own commission or sell to someone else!
We've got a bit of last minute hassle to deal with (after asking ages ago whether the buyer wanted anything leaving, we've been told the answer is no and we need to remove a sofa... would've been handy to know before the weekend rather than after, but at least we can go and remove anything else we thought might be useful like the tins of paint we used to decorate!) but we're due to complete on Friday. At least it will be a weight off our minds - and we'll save quite a bit per month with not having to pay service charges or council tax!0 -
Perhaps we are being unrealistic. Its just the (rental) house I sold back in October only took 10 weeks to go through, admittedly there was no chain but the hold up there was the buyers mortgage offer.
Its just living with the inlaws with a 2 year old in tow for the past 8 months is taking its toll on everyone. We thought having a relatively small chain and no issues with the mortgage we would all be good to go.0 -

Ah, now I understand.
It probably doesn't help much now, but you will forget about all the hassle after you have settled in to your new place.0 -
I am also living with my inlaws - me and my two big dogs! I am in week 17 of my purchase - exchange is probably around 3 weeks away (I hope!)0
