According to the Torygraph (hardly a Gordon Brown fan) he is top of the list of MPs with extra earnings and giving it all to charity. He has also renounced his Prime Ministerial Pension. (A far cry from Tony Bliar, or even the Goddess who was lining her own pockets by touting for Rothmans cigarette manufacturers after she was ousted.) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/gordon-brown/10083547/Gordon-Brown-tops-list-of-MPs-with-extra-earnings.html
I invariably find that every time we get a new government, the last one doesn't seem quite so bad .....“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

Yes, but the 'charity' that gets most of it is 'The Office of Gordon and Sarah Brown' which was "established to support Gordon and Sarah in their work and to facilitate their ongoing involvement in public life". Some of the money does indeed go to charity, but most of it appears to get spent on 'other things'. It has even been suggested that the 'tax efficiency' of the arrangement may well be a factor.
Or at least that's what Guido says;

Just another sleazy politician then“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
The TISA 'Our Financial Future document' is a good read.
I noticed that JPMorgan were part of the TISA initiative. How are they doing on explaining the London Whale incident ? Will it be hushed up as finger trouble? Credit default swaps /hedge fund activity is what these banks are about.
I suspect that the motivation behind the report is that you had better save because you won't be getting a loan from us. Britons 'have never had it so bad' to misquote Harold Macmillan.
The recovery was driven by consumer spending and this spending power will run out.

It wouldn't surprise me if banks in the future were to have Bitcoin or similar virtual currency accounts.0 -

Didn't realise that failure on such a grand scale is rewarded with plaudits.0 -
Very simple if you try to exist on a basic pension you will soon see why this country does not save as much as others.Worked 44 years in the care profession earning low wages,outcome no money for retirement but everyone telling you what a worthwhile job you did.This does not help now and no government has ever valued employees that give to society. Sad but wish I had chosen a different career.0
