Car Insurance - 2 cars for short period, best method to insure??

Hi all,

We have one car in our household and my OH is the main insured driver as she has 9+ years no claims.

We have now brought a new car and pick it up on Sunday but will still have the other car for at max a month while we sell it!!

Whats the best way to get the main new car insured with my partners no claims and the other car still covered until we sell it?

If i was to take a Policy out on the old car and cancelled it roughly how much of the policy cost should i expect to get back?

just wanted to ask people opinions before we ring our current insurer.

Thanks,
Edd

Using price comparison websites, you should be able to narrow down the sites that charges you less when you cancel the policy within a month.
Such websites may not to be the cheapest - so needs a bit of research.

Re: your old car cover, personally, I think its better to do a SORN if you can keep it secure in a garage till you sell it rather than wasting money on insurance for a month?

Will your current unsurer cover both vehicles for a month? If not it could be costly. Short term policies can be expensive add the fact you wont have any no claims to use because your using that on your new car.

It maybe cheaper to sell the car for less now and save the hassle.
