"Sanctioned PPI"

I hope someone could give me some advice.
I have been contacted by a company call "PPI Claimline", they first called me from a withheld number and then called me with the number 02081231393. Looked on their website and I could call them back on 08000286674 or on 02081231394 (one digit off the number they called me from).
They informed me that they have been trying to get hold of me for a long time as there is a sanctioned PPI claim authorized by the City County Court of London, against the bank which I had a mortgage with against the property I was living in at that time, to a value (not an insignificant amount). They say that they will not take any of the money ordered by the court but do require a fee payment of just 10%, they do not accept debit or credit cards but UKash. They told me not to worry as I do not have to give them payment until I have received the cheque and the money is in my bank account.
All sounds very legitimate, well. They inform me that before they send round a representative with the cheque, I first need to provide them with the last three digits of the UKash code on the vouchers, so I have to go and get the vouchers first before the local representative comes round with the cheque.
I have asked for proof of the court document, details of the bank, dates of when the mortgage was from and to, for which they say it was all sent to the address they had on record (my old address which the mortgage was taken out against). I have provided them with my current address but after four weeks and two requests for the proof, I still haven't received any corresponding documentation.
I don't want to go and get UKash vouchers and hand over the last three digits of the codes until I have proof that this "Sanctioned PPI Claim" is legitimate.
Could this really be a very well thought out scam???????????????
I could really do with some advice.
Kind regards.
Graeme.

UKcash is used by scammers in advance fee fraud. All sounds very legitimate
No it doesn't.Could this really be a very well thought out scam???????????????
Its about as obvious a scam as you can get.
PPI complaints need to be initiated by you. There are no sanctioned PPI claim posts and the courts are not involved. UKash is used by cold calling scams and this is a very obvious advance fee fraud. Do not fall for it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
This is most definitely a scam, they have no more idea of a PPI claim in your name than I have, DO NOT sign any paperwork or get the vouchers, you will end up out of pocket and no PPI to claim.0

Okay, so who should I be reporting this to, the police or some other ombudsman???0

As soon as they had mentioned using UKash vouchers alarm bells started ringing anyway, which is why I posted on here.
Called the legitimate company "PPI Claimline" on 0800 028 6674 and informed them of the details. They said that this is a scam and it was never instigated from them.
This has now been reported to the police.
Hopefully someone else will come across this post if they get a call from the numbers I mentioned and realise quickly that it is a scam.If this post prevents even one person from falling for this scam then it is for the better.0 -
If someone phones you up asking for a little bit of money/vouchers/bank details in exchange for a lot of money, it's a scam.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Scam for sure but I would not even call it a well thought out one .... obvious from the start but had you still been in doubt, a few simple checks would prove it.0 -
Hi there
I get a lot of calls trying to convince me to claim for an injury due to an accident (sure you all know those). Just had a call from 02081444171 claiming to be from City and County Court of London to inform me I had a cheque for over £3000 being delivered today.
Now, the fact that the person calling was asking for my father and not me rings big alarm bells as the car accident the claims lines refer to happened in my father's car.
So they are using the accident claims register to get people's phone numbers to sound legitimate, although if anyone asks for money in order to give you money then you know it's a scam.
Another number added to my blocked list.0 -

Hi everyone,
Im in Northern Ireland and was contacted by some people claiming to be from the Despatch team of City County Court of London with a cheque for me from a PPI claim. I have been making claims so it sounded possible.
The format was very similar to previous posters. I was first told that I would have to show paysafe vouchers to the courier and he would give me the cheque. The guy said the paysafe vouchers would be collected by another courier once I had confirmed that the cheque had cleared in my bank account. Again this sounded fair.
But at 4pm no courier arrived and at 4.30 I got another phone call from their validation department asking for the 16 digit codes so they could validate my paysafe vouchers. I refused telling him I wouldnt do that until I had received the cheque and it had cleared. After some to,ing and fro,ing he gave up. This was in early December.
They contacted me again yesterday. This time I asked for an address and phone number and said I would phone them back. He gave address 137 Finchley road, London
020 8133 4385 ask for Martin or Alec Cooper
This scam comes up on google as going on from 2012!
They are insistent that their method is government approved and that they cant use the vouchers by just having the PIN codes.
!!!!THIS IS A LIE!!!!
I'm now locked in an email procedure while trying to get a refund of these Paysafe vouchers.
I hope no-one else gets stuck in this situationHappiness is a smile a day and a bad memory.:)0
