New job after finishing uni- what happens re tax credits?

Hi,
I have recently completed my degree and have been offered a job which I will be hopefully starting in the next few weeks. I have dependent children and my husband is currently seeking work having been the main carer for the children whilst I was studying. During my time at uni I have been getting the full rate of child tax credits in addition to my student income, most of which is not classed as income by tax credits due to it not being taxable. I had a little part time job last summer but that was less than 16 hours per week and did not affect child tax credits.
I would like to know what will happen when I inform HMRC that I am starting work, for example will they stop my current tax credits claim and start a new one, and if so how long does that normally take? I am going to be doing 30 hours so will be above the entitlement threshold for WTC.
I am trying to find out what will happen so i can try to budget accordingly.

You advise of a change of circumstances and they will amend your claim as required. Unlike a change from single to joint or vice versa this is not closing a claim and submitting a new claim so your payments should not stop.0

Thank you both, I was worried about the claim closing and then a new one starting as I've heard that can take some time to process, but if that is not the case then I can relax a little.
My previous year income will only be around £3.5 k due to student finance, but I am aware they will take my expected income into account for the calculation as it will be a change of more than £5k.'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans'-John Lennon
