Hi, I had a new washer delivered on 2nd February this year. I phoned Currys last Monday to say when spinning it was extremely loud and the drum bearings must have gone. A repair man came on Wednesday and confirmed this, then went away to check if the parts were in stock and said someone would contact me and let me know. No news by Friday so I phoned them, only to be told the parts wouldn`t be available until 18th July. I was told by the engineer not to use a spin cycle above 800rpm as this would increase the chance of the washing machine falling apart and flooding my kitchen. It is so loud that having a conversation while it is spinning is impossible. I told Curry`s that I wasn`t prepared to wait three weeks for a repair as I was unable to use a fast spin speed, the noise was deafening and I was afraid every time I used it that it was going to break and flood the kitchen. I said if they could not repair it within a week then they ought to replace the washer as it was obviously faulty when they sold it me. I was told the bearings should last about five years at least. The manager was supposed to phone me today but hasn`t done. I would just like to know if I am entitled to a replacement washer as this must have been faulty when they sold it to me. Also waiting 3 weeks for a repair is a significant inconvenience. Help please.

If the repairman has said it's OK to use on low spin, then you should do that. I wouldn't consider it a significant inconvenience, especially in this weather.
You are not entitled to a replacement IMO, but you can always ask.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
He didn`t say it was ok to use on 800rpm. He advised I didn`t use a higher spin speed. The drum could still break even on 800rpm especially as it is normally used 6 days a week and I have to wait 3 weeks! When I asked who would pay the cost if my kitchen was flooded customer services replied that I shouldn`t use the washer until it was repaired, so yes, if I take their advice then 3 weeks without a washer would be a significant inconvenience!0

This probably depends on how much spare money you have, and if you're willing to go to court.
Any remedy must not cause you significant inconvenience. A three week wait if you have numerous babies and small children would do. A three week wait if you have a house full of adults and live next door to a laundrette wouldn't. Everything in between is up for grabs!
If they refuse to do anything else, your main option is to buy a replacement yourself and then pursue Currys in court for a refund of yours. You'd need to demonstrate the significant inconvenience it caused you, and of course you may not win. It depends on if you can afford a replacement and are willing to take it to small claims.0 -
Go to a launderette and get some service washes done. My washer/drier broke down in November 2010, I ordered a new one, delivery was delayed by 3 weeks due to all the shocking snow. I had a 6 month old at the time. MASSES of washing only cost £20 and it was all folded up lovely
