Hi
Basically, I've booked a hotel on the internet (site was secure etc), however the hotel has no record of my booking and they don't know what the error code I was presented with means.
I've rang my CC provider (Virgin Atlantic) and they can see a transaction to the hotel website for the amount as 'pending'.
Can I stop this payment as the hotel have said they have recieved no money and I do not have a reservation.
Any advice?
Thanks

If the payment goes through, then you can dispute it if there is no booking.0

Are you sure you were booking directly with the hotel on the hotel's own website? It's very likely this was some kind of 3rd party booking agency that has not onpassed the booking to the hotel yet.Optimists see a glass half full

I assume you haven't received any confirmation emails either...
So in your position, I would just re-book the hotel (assuming you actually still want to), on the basis that the first attempt failed.
If a belated confirmation email turns up for the first booking, contact the website and/or hotel to explain what happened, and they should cancel the duplicate booking. That's worked for me in the past.
Or if the money is taken twice from your CC without a second booking ref etc, try resolving it with the website first - but if you have no luck, go to the CC company.
(Obviously, the risk is that the CC company will chargeback the wrong one of the two payments!)0
