Gettig a mortgage with unfair arrears from orange

Hi, I have also posted this on the credit file forum for some advice on how to get rid of the unfair arrears marks! But as I have little hope in orange doing anything of use, at least not anytime soon I am posting here!
I had an orange contract between 2008-10 which I had numerous problems with, orange over charging me for bills resulting in the canceling the direct debit as I could not afford to pay what they wanted wether it would be refunded or not. I have recently checked my credit file to notice numerous cases of arrears being marked against me ranging from 1 month to 1 at 4 months (before this 4 month mark 2 of the months were marked as being in dispute) I am trying to liase with orange regarding this but at present they are ignoring me!
What are my chances of getting a mainstream mortgage with my partner (who has perfect credit history) with a 20% ltv with this still on my file? This September it will have been 4 years since the account closed, I am aware it will be gone in 6 but 2 years is a long time.
Any advice on how much this will affect me or how to do anything to help would be wonderfull!
Thank you
Danielle

I would continue to badger Orange if the entries shouldn't be there, they were pretty good about removing a late payment marker on my file which was there because I was awaiting the outcome of a dispute with them before settling the account (which was justified seeing as they ended up reducing the amount owed!).
Lenders vary on how they view these things, most aren't too bothered about the odd small value late payment 3+years ago. The fact there are a number of them on your file though and with some going unpaid for a number of months might be more of an issue. The fact you have a decent deposit will help (assume you mean 20% deposit which would mean 80% LTV?).
As always when the time comes your best bet is to go through a good independent broker.0 -
Yeh we have a 20% deposit, but due to is buying in London, the mortgage were asking for will be pretty big unfortunatly!
Iv emailed orange once and got an automated response telling me they would get back to me in 72 hrs, they didn't so I called and they denied all knowledge of an email. Passed me around and have me another email address, which I have still had no reply, I'm iut of ideas of who to contact now with them.
The total amount it went up to was £112, so a pretty small amount, and there is 2 dispute markings on there before the 4 month arrear marker, it is also clear when you look further that they messed up as they reduced every amount on there.
I contacted a broker for a bit of advice and they flat out said I'd have no chance, without looking into my other (perfect!) credit history they said if I had a 4 month arrear no one except the very high interest lenders would touch me, and even some of them wouldn't. I'm not sure how much I trust that broker tho, he didn't seem to want much information from me, and it all seemed a bit 'odd'. It's so frustrating that I'm now being penalised through no fault of my own!0 -

How are you getting on with this? Any progression with your mortgage? I'm in a similar situation - looking to apply for a mortgage in the next week or so..0 -
Not yet sorry, were meeting with a mortgage advisor in the next fortnight but that's just for a bit of advice, we don't actually have a house in mind yet. Trying to find out how likely I am to get a mortgage before I find a house, apply and get refused. That would be gutting! Are you in the same suituation as me?0

If orange are messing you around / ignoring you, I would put together all the details and submit a CEO complaint. The complaints I've submitted via this route have been resolved in 5 days.
In fact, a quick search revealed a whole webpage containing addresses, email addresses and contact numbers to submit complaints to.0 -
Iv tried to complain through the routes on the orange website which are just email addresses, telephone and online forms. Someone has given me an email address for Olaf swantee which I could try nxt, did your search come up with any more options as contact details?
It's been 2 weeks since I sent the origional complaint and 10 days since I emailed the credit file team, is that a reasonable amount of time to expect a reply?0 -
I had a similar problem with orange. I graduated from uni and I started to apply for credit and wondered why I was getting rejected, I had a full time job with what I thought was a good credit rating.
I checked my credit record and low and behold orange was had put some previous payments in arrears (about 4 years previous, lots of problems them billing me for a contract that no longer existed.)
So I called up and asked for a postal address to put this in writing. I would try this approach, I find emails don't usually get responded to as they get too many.
The end result was that this was wiped off my credit rating. Took a few weeks, but it was worth it. Persist! Good luck!Mortgage balance: £[STRIKE]79,061[/STRIKE], £72,400, £68,000 Feb 17

Thank you, I was debating trying good old fashioned post next! May even go as far as recorded delivery so they can't deny getting it like they have everything else! Glad you managed to get yours sorted!0

My OH has recently been through this (within the last fortnight) The late/missed payments were corrected within 7 working days (may have been quicker)
Raised a dispute with Experian, they got in contact with Orange.
Also, contacted Orange (called CS on 150) and told them of missed payments.
When we hadn't heard anything for a couple of days (they said we would), a polite email was sent to the credit referrals dept at Orange.
A couple of days later we got an email from Orange to say they had corrected it and records would be updated in 72 hours.
Next day the errors were corrected!
Fair play to Orange0 -
I may try to raise a concern with experian then aswell, so far I have emailed orange complaint department twice, recieved the automated emails saying they would get back to me in 72 hours, they didn't and denied ever receiving the emails. I have also emailed the credit referrals department twice now, it's been 10 days and I haven't heard anything.
Getting slightly annoyed is an understatement!0
