Could anybody who has an account with Sainsbury's Bank confirm 2 points for me, please:
1) is the site working OK for you? I've been trying to activate my new account the last 2 days and receive this message:

technical difficulties We are currently experiencing technical difficulties that has prevented us from completing your request. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and request that you try again later.2) In general, how good is their site/interface? I want something that can accept and withdraw without issues, even if it takes a day to transfer and not instant like FPO. As an example, I closed my account with Post Office because they always had "technical difficulties" when it came to withdrawing money. If Sainsbury's is glitchy/temperemental like this I won't try further.

Which browser are you using? On nationwide I can't use their site with ie9 but it's fine in chrome.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

I just got in using IE11 with no problem.
In the past transfers to another bank account have failed, with an error message along the lines of "can't process transfer" etc.
I just waited and did it the next day with no problem.0 -
I'm using latest Firefox (30) and IE (11).
I go through all steps of activation, it fails at the end due to that technical difficulty. Not impressed, will give it a go few more times this week and otherwise move on.
1.20% is decent but not great to worry about IT pains.0 -
Just tried it with IE11 and, as usual, had no problem.0

Solved. The alphanumeric password must have 'several' numbers, a single number is not enough.
Unlike most other steps which warn/stop you when criteria are not meant, this step doesn't and you receive the error at the very end. The requirement does not state 'several' numbers, I found this out by calling. After about 10 minutes with an apologetic, extremely nice but ultimately clueless, CSR and going over the usual user-based errors that are the cause of such situations, escalated to a manager who confirmed it. At the very least, their IT should update the instruction/requirement of the minimum numbers required.
I'm in now, I'm impressed with the speed of transactions- FPOs clear instantly so nothing like the farcical Post Office experience. The site could be a bit better, mainly with a XLS/CSV statement download option, but overall am pleased.0
