Santander statements

I'm a newbie so please be gentle.
I have recently started a claim with MBNA regarding PPI on a credit card and have received a letter from Santander advising that they serviced the credit card between September 2001 and March 2003. They have asked that I provide statements from this period and they will investigate my complaint.
I do not have statements going back eleven years, so my question is this. Do I let this go or do I send one of the SAR letters in the hopes that they will be able to provide some information.
Can any of you good people out there advise.:):)
On a lighter note, I did submit a claim to MBNA regarding a Debenhems credit card on the basis that it was sold in store and PPI had not been discussed or requested and they upheld my complaint. Received a very nice cheque for £1318.37:j

If you dont believe them and think they do have statements from that period then pay your £10 and find out.
