Clarity Card

I got one because we were touring around Europe for about a month and didn't want to load up with cash.
Informed Halifax a good time before we left and was told that there wouldn't be a problem.

Well paying by cc was fine in restaurants and supermarkets but cash dispensers just ... wouldn't.

It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Some banks don't like credit cards (or maybe just MasterCards), it's usually just a matter of trying different machines; once you find one that does play ball, try and stick with that bank. Halifax Clarity works as well as any of my cards.

Having said that, I rarely get problems except sometimes outside Europe.

    Thanks, this is worth knowing.

I've just been accepted for a clarity card to use on my holidays in 3 weeks.

I was planning on relying on it for all cash.

Take at least 2 credit / debit cards (from different issuers) and enough cash to get you started.

Indeed, and if possible a Visa and a MasterCard - I've had occasions where machines won't take one or the other, not a situation you want to be in if you need cash in a hurry (airport taxi, for example).
