Mis-sold glasses by Specsavers

2 years ago I was told that I needed glasses so I paid for the lenses and the frames.

I have had many problems since then, I went back and was then told I needed prisms in my lenses, I had to pay more for these.

I have gone back 2 or 3 times in that time because I had headaches and was still struggling to see. Each time different tests were done and there was no consistency, I kept having to pay for new lenses.

I went back 2 weeks ago and I was told that I don't need glasses at all.

What rights do I have to claim back all the money I needlessly paid and the suffering I have had to put up after I trusted their opinion?

Eyes are funny things, they can change power/shape at short notice. Prisms are used to alleviate double vision. I can take many weeks/months to get used to them. It is all down to the muscle strength of your eyes.

Sometimes it can correct itself, this may have been what has happened to you. One of my friends was told he had cataracts forming in his left eye and the pressure in his eye was increasing too. The optician referred him to the local hospital. At his appointment, the Opthalmic Surgeon did all the tests and told him, whatever was showing before, had disappeared and everything was ok, the pressure was down to normal and the cloudiness had disappeared .

Have a word with them, but the lenses were only prescribed, due to you giving the positive answers to the questions you were asked at the time of the sight test. This would be supported by the use of the slit lamp and other appliances used in the sight test.

I have had double cataract surgery done and have gone from really bad eyesight ( -10 each eye) to perfect vision. I am now driven mad by having 3 sets of different powered reading glasses, ranging from +1.75 to 2.25 for different things ( watching TV, Using computer, reading a book) none of them are any good for all 3 scenarios.
